STATEMENT OF MISSION
We believe God calls us to share the good news of Jesus Christ. To be a faithful, growing church and strengthen congregational life for this mission, we work toward Christian unity, share Christ’s redeeming love that the human family might be made whole, welcome all people for worship and fellowship, and minister to the needs of others by sharing and caring.
A NEW VIEW
FROM THE BRIDGE
Why Do We DO Church?
Why do we DO Church? Is a question that I have asked myself from the moment I thought I might be called to Red Bridge Christian Church.
Why do people come here on Sunday? Why do we volunteer our time to help others? Why is it so important that we remember those that have gone before us through memorials. Why do we like certain hymns? Why do we sit in the same place on Sunday morning?
There are so many other WHYS that we could go on for pages. However, my question is more general in nature than a specific why do we do certain things. What does it mean to DO church? I think we DO church because it has been part of most of our lives for many, many years. It is part of who we are. It is part of our identity as a person or family. We don’t get up on Sunday morning and ask; “What shall I do today?” We just get up and know that today is a Church day just like during the week we get up and say this is a school day or a work day. Church is what our parents did with us as children. Now I know that there are people in our family of faith here that started to DO church later in life. Why? Well, I think, maybe, it is that someone in their family invited them or brought them.
So, if we are truly a FAMILY of faith then the best way to talk about growth is to talk about how we invite people to be part of our family. I think our Church and Society ministry group has the right idea. They are inviting the children and their families of the neighborhood to come to a KIDS FUN DAY. This will be a day that is totally free and provides an opportunity to worship here with our family.
We are making changes in how we DO church. This includes our new computer and phone system. It includes how we contact our family when there is a need for prayer or other emergency.
Church is more than just Sunday morning. It is the lifestyle of a family striving to do God’s will and live as Christ lived.
Why do we DO church? Because it is what our family does. Let’s invite others to be part of our family. Come and be part of the Kids Fun Day on August 9th. We need all of our family to participate in some way. We want all of our family to DO church.
Shalom,
Sondra

75 years old! It’s hard to believe. My life has been blessed by my family & friends. Although I love cards & the thought behind them, please share you thoughtfulness with those in need. Bring one can or box of food for the pantry & put it in “Donna’s Birthday basket.” It would be great to have 75 items. I would love a smile, hug & your blessing.
