STATEMENT OF MISSION
We believe God calls us to share the good news of Jesus Christ. To be a faithful, growing church and strengthen congregational life for this mission, we work toward Christian unity, share Christ’s redeeming love that the human family might be made whole, welcome all people for worship and fellowship, and minister to the needs of others by sharing and caring.
A NEW VIEW
FROM THE BRIDGE
A Step In The Right Direction
We have a couple of Sundays under our belts and many more in the future. Where do WE go from here?
I would like to know as much about you as an individual and a church as possible. There are many ways to do this. One that I have found particularly helpful is doing a timeline. A large sheet of paper will be put on the wall in the hallway down from the Main office area toward the Library. It will begin with the date Red Bridge Christian Church began up through the month of July 2008. Please take some time the next few weeks to think about the date you joined the church and all the important dates for you and your family. Also, think about historical dates for the church. Such as, 1912 – the beginning date of the church, 1914 – the date the church took the name of Oak Park Christian church then in 1960 the name change to Red Bridge Christian Church. It would be great to have all the information we can get on our history. Also, I am looking for someone that will put together a new “Origin and Development of Red Bridge Christian Church” with all our new information. I think it will be helpful to all of us here as well as new members we have come in.
Another way to help me get to know all of you, is for you to wear your nametags. Now, there are people that know me and are right now at this moment laughing because I have never been a supporter of nametags.
But, I have seen the light and understand their importance (at least for a short time) just kidding. I have been looking in the church directory to put names with faces. I pull out the directory every time the phone rings so I can look up a picture as I am talking to you on the phone. I will do my best to learn your names quickly.
As I said on my first Sunday in the Pulpit, we are beginning a new path in our journey. This is a journey that I have been looking forward to for many years now and am excited to see where we go. We are a family of faith and with God as our guide; we will find the path that God has set out for us.
Shalom,
Sondra
A Prayer Answered
I will be able to have the necessary surgery on my knee, thanks to a benevolent donation that allows me to complete the required MRI.
Cannot tell you the extent of my appreciation.

My “Thanks and sincerest appreciation” to Jackie Orrick and Richard Houston for filling in at the office during my vacation.
The reunion was wonderful and a much needed break.

TALL OAKS CAMP
Information for summer camps at Tall Oaks is available at www.talloaks.org or you can contact Tall Oaks at 913-301-3004. There is a poster on the hall bulletin board listing the various camps, their dates and costs. The church pays for ½ the cost for church families who want to participate.
A LETTER OF THANKS
Dear Friends,
As Jesus sent out His disciples to preach the Good News to the people of Israel, He admonished them, “Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:8) It’s clear to me that you have been listening to the same instructions!
Your gift this month is such a blessing to us at City Union Mission. Often, the people who come here for help have absolutely nothing except the clothes on their backs.
Thanks to your compassion and generosity, we will be able to offer the homeless a nutritious meal and a safe bed, a hot shower and clean clothes. But we won’t stop there. We also invite them to abandon the streets for good. We offer Christian counseling and a long-term recovery program, educational courses and job training, plus transitional housing where they can acclimate to the “real world” once again,
We simply couldn’t offer such comprehensive services without widespread support in the community and the loyal partnership of friends like you. Thank you for giving freely!
With gratitude,
Linda Vochatzer
